1. What was your last non-Industry job?
I worked at a call center for DirecTV.
2. What got you interested in Radio?
KKBT (92.3 THE BEAT)/LOS ANGELES did a van hit In SANTA MONICA two blocks down the street from my house. I loved THE BEAT so I went to check it out I instantly fell in love with the emotional connection that THE BEAT was having with its listeners. 200 listeners showed up and were going crazy for anything that had THE BEAT logo on it, not to mention the SWV records.
3. If you weren't in Radio, what do you think you'd be doing with your life?
Voice Overs (Shameless Plug: check out the demo www.DonAmiche.com)
Besides that I would be a lawyer or politician. I like helping people and fixing situations were people are being taken advantage of. Familty law (Father's Rights) would be my specialty.
4. What's the highlight of your radio career to date?
Having God guide me right here to KWIN. I mean it's like I won the lottery. I work with some of the best people life has to offer. Shouts out to the whole Citadel Fam and my man, Micheal Newman, our consultant.
5. How has the adjustment been from TEXAS to STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA been?
It's been ok. I run into listeners here who used to listen to me in TEXAS. The only real tough adjustment is the music, I miss TEXAS Hip Hop so much. I respect the whole Bay Area scene. There are a lot of talented artists. But TEXAS Hip Hop just has such a different vibe to it. Other then that, Stock-tone is just like TEXAS. Same people...different faces..
6. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Programming, Record Promotion, fired or the KING of Voiceovers (shameless plug 2.0: www.DonAmiche.com and check out the demo).
7. Who do you consider to be your mentor(s)?
First...GOD. Sometimes he breaks you down to open your eyes. MICHEAL NEWMAN, as busy as he is, he always found time for me. DEAN JAMES...he gave me the "Keep It Moving" speech. Also CC CRUZ, BIG MIKE, TERRY "BIG DADDY" MONDAY and PETE JONES.
8. You're the AMD at KWIN as well as the afternoon jock. Aren't you beginning to branch out into voiceover work, as well?
Wow...I am glad you brought that Up (www.DonAmiche.com). The reason I am jumping into the VO ring is because I don't hear too many voices putting emotion behind the words. I think I can fill that void. When you hear my voice, it's sexy, hype, big and emotional. I'm a 90s man. I cry when I read copy.
9. You are giving three market choices for your next gig. LA, DALLAS or HOUSTON...which would it be?
H-TOWN, because I got it down. It would be a dream come true to work for legendary stations like the BOX or the PARTY. I mean to get payed to be on the radio and listen to my favorite music, man I would probably get fired my fist day. It would be nothing but ZRO, TRAE, PAUL WALL, MIKE JONES & CHINGO BLING.
10. If you had to exist on one type of food for 6 months, what would it be? (ie...Italian, sushi, steak, Mexican)
Chinese...I cant live without it.
