BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
KGGI/Riverside, CA, KBOS/Fresno, CA, KDON/Monterey, CA, KISV/Bakersfield, CA, KDHT/Austin, TX
1. What got you into radio?
Influenced by KGGI, KIIS, and KPWR growing up in the Inland Empire, I wanted to be a part of what was coming through the speakers. I went to broadcasting school in Los Angeles then landed an internship at KGGI.
2. You're a California boy, now back in Cali after a stint in Texas. What's the best thing about coming back to Cali?
Being closer to family and of course... In-N-Out.
3. What did you look most about living in Austin?
I liked that there was always something going on. Live concerts, social events, recreational opportunities...there was never a dull moment. There is a sense of pride/community in Austin I've never experienced before. Great city!
4. How's it feeling being back into day-to-day programming after being away from it for awhile? I feel fortunate for the whole situation, being back in programming and back home in Cali.
I definitely missed it.
5. Like most in Radio, your programming career has seen its ups and downs. What motivates you during the "downs"?
Staying positive and motivated is definitely a challenge when you're on the sidelines but I have some supportive people in my corner who kept my head straight.
6. KVYB serves a very large coverage area...is it similar to the situation you saw at KDON, where you served Monterey, Salinas, and Santa Cruz?
Honestly, no. This is on a whole different level. We reach as far north as San Luis Obispo out to Thousand Oaks. The coverage is crazy.
7. You get to be on a TV reality show...which reality show would you like to be on?
The Apprentice
8. What has been the most significant change in the day-to-day programming of a station since you started as a PD?
As a whole, I would say stations having to rely more heavily on voice-tracking, syndicated programming, and "more music"/jockless dayparts.
9. What do you go to get away from it all? Get away from it all?
I just spent a year on the beach. I'm not trying to get away from anything!
10. If you could pick one air personality that you have personally worked with over the years to join your staff at KVYB, who would it be?
There are a few guys I'd love to have in the building but one of my biggest missing pieces is that female pressence so I'd have to say my former morning co-host Liza Michelle. She's just an overall great talent.
