Please outline your radio career so far:
WBLX (1991-1994), KKDA (1994), KJMM (1994-1995) and back to WBLX (1996-present).
1) What was your first job in radio? Early influences?
My first job in radio was as a parttime board op for the WBLX AM station, Classic 660. From there I moved over to the FM station. Early influences for me were Skip Cheatham and Double D (Donald Davis from Philly).
2) What led you to a career in radio? Was there a defining moment that made you realize "this is it"?
I was looking to get into the broadcasting field doing television, but I was able to get into radio and haven't left yet. I knew "this was it" when I realized how much of a difference we make in the lives of our listeners. That gives me the best feeling in the world.
3) If you were just starting out in radio, knowing now what you didn't then, would you still do it?
Yes.
4) What career path would you be following had it not been for this industry?
Television, for sure.
5) What was the first record/CD you purchased?
"Off The Wall" by Michael Jackson That was my man back then.
6) Where do you see the industry and yourself five years from now?
Doing the same thing, in a larger market
7) Of all the skills you have gained through the years, is there an area you'd like to improve?
I would like to improve my programming skills and production skills. Of course, I would always like to improve my on-air skills.
8) What do you like best about your job? Least?
What I like best is the difference I am able to make in the lives of others. Least? The stress it can cause at times.
9) What do you plan to do differently this year, regarding work, family or both?
I plan to weed out the things that interfere with the growth and happiness of my family first, and work will follow.
10) If you could add any one full-time position to your budget with no questions asked, what would it be?
My own personal male massage therapist for those stressful days! Oh, let me come back down. Really, I would like to have a Selector-trained, fulltime music director.
