1. What was your favorite station to listen to when you were a kid?
Q105 and Mason Dixon. I won 100 dollars when I was 11 for knowing Grandma got ran over by a reindeer in one of his contests.
2. What's one thing that would surprise many people to learn about you?
I own a toy poodle.
3. What part of your job do you like best? Least?
Best: I love working with bands, music and the people of this industry. It's more than just a job, it's a love!
Least: I hate dealing with the SUIT and TIE types who have no passion for what we do and why we do it.
4. What is the most challenging part of the job?
Every day is a challenge but that's what makes it great. Every day something different is happening. No day is the same.
5. How would you describe the music and imaging on the station?
We lean heavy and are a T&A station!
6. What makes WJBX unique?
We have the ability to do what we want. We don't have the restrictions that some MAJOR radio companies have. If we want to get something done we don't have to go through the nightmares that some of the BIG boys have to when it comes to deciding on what to play and what promotions to execute. Even though we are a publicly traded company the powers that be allow us the creative freedom to do what we feel is right for the station.
7. What would an outsider find most surprising about Ft. Myers?
It's actually much bigger than many people think. This market in southwest Florida is growing rapidly. It's not all gray hairs who come here to die. Not to mention the scenery ain't too bad either! Did I mention we are on the beach and winter for us is a high of 72 and low of 58.
8. What's the best concert you've been to in the past year and what made it so great?
I'd have to say Linkin Park and Project Revolution. The energy and the sound was awesome...or maybe it was the JAGER BOMBS backstage. I am looking forward to that again this year and my boys 10 YEARS are on the bill ...makes it even sweeter!
9. Favorite artist you have met?
Geoff Tate of Queensyrche. I was always a big fan and he was the nicest guy when we met.
10. What is the one truth that has held constant throughout your career?
I am as real as you get. I think you should always treat others as you would want to be treated. This business is based on good relationships. All of us have a job to do and I try to respect that. I love this business and the passion I have for radio is expressed in what I do. Love what you do and do what you love. I have been blessed to be able to do both.
