The Right To Be Wrong
-
So, I was walking by Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis Thursday -- really -- and I saw channels 6 and 13 with trucks outside, and I wondered, uh oh, what's going on? And then I found out: Pacers star and broken leg victim Paul George had tweeted support for Ray Rice based on Rice's fiancee/wife defending him after he punched her. "If SHE ain't trippin then I ain't trippin," George tweeted. "lol let that man play!" Stupid comments, and instant controversy. The question is, does he have to apologize or can we allow people to have opinions with which we disagree? He did apologize, but to that, read Jim Norton's essay in Time magazine about the "mob mentality" that demands celebrities apologize when they say stupid things instead of allowing free discourse and see if you agree.
