The flight attendants' union is appealing the FAA's decision to allow the use of electronic devices on planes during takeoff and landing, alleging that the rule change was too quick and didn't go through the public comment period. But if it's a scientific thing -- if the FAA's determined that the devices, if in airplane mode, don't interfere, what comment is necessary? Okay, there IS the issue of determining whose devices are in airplane mode, but, still. (Los Angeles Times)
