Greece has been in financial crisis for a while, and the nation's leaders are being challenged by leftist factions. But they can agree on one thing: The first problem to tackle is the issue of all-inclusive resorts. Wait, what? Yes, the challengers are calling for a possible ban or heavy restrictions on resorts where you pay one price and get all your food and stuff, because they think it keeps people from patronizing shops and restaurants in the area. But tourism has been one of the only bright spots in the economy, and resort and hotel operators fear that the politicians are going to kill the industry. I doubt your Club Med/Sandals-type places are really a problem, but they think so. Meanwhile, the ruling party plans to double the hotel tax. Guess they want tourists to bail out the government.
