While They're At It, How About Hanging Portraits Of Bobby Hull And Dale Hawerchuk?
-
Those of us who remember the Good Old Days of hockey remember that in the old Winnipeg Arena, they had, for no apparent reason, a huge portrait of Queen Elizabeth hanging from the rafters, beaming over the ice while players would shoot pucks at her mouth. The Jets left town, the arena was demolished, and the portrait was supposed to go into a museum but didn't, and ended up in storage in Ontario. And now, it's been purchased by a couple of railroad bosses and is coming back to Winnipeg. But they say there's no room at the newer arena, MTS Centre, where the second incarnation of the Jets play. So they don't know where it'll be displayed, but you can't tell me they can't find a place for her in the current arena. Seriously, there has to be a place they can put the Queen. (CBC)
