It's not the message, it's the choice of words that got a school principal in Guelph, ON in trouble: In making an announcement over the P.A. about dress codes, he told students to "dress cool and not skanky," which some students are now protesting as "slut-shaming." Whatever you think about the word "skanky" and the issue of "slut-shaming," these are high school students. If you're a parent of a high school student, how would you feel about your kid declaring solidarity with "sluts" and "skanks" and protesting limits on what used to be universally inappropriate fashion for school students?
