Is There A GOOD Cable Company?
-
Comcast couldn't do it, so Plan B: Charter's buying Time Warner Cable for a ridiculous amount. If you think it's about cable TV, you're mistaken. It's all about broadband. Charter already was acquiring Bright House, which was the part of Time Warner Cable that it had to spin off years ago (dominant in places like Tampa Bay), so it'll be one big company (but not nearly as big as Comcast Time Warner would have been). And the question remains: Why? What will this do for consumers? Nothing good, of course, and Time Warner Cable's paralyzing market position (ask Dodger fans) will only get stronger in Los Angeles.
