Families in the U.S. are spending 16% more on college educations this year, for the first time in five years. That means more confidence in the economy, which is a good sign, and more expensive tuition, which isn't. The question is still whether a college degree is worth the money for people who really aren't destined for high-paying white-collar jobs, or for those who insist on getting the kinds of degrees that don't lead to jobs, and, yes, philosophy majors, that's you.
