A study by Drexel University of Philadelphia's paramedics shows that they're often subjected to violence, assaulted, spat upon, and even threatened with guns. Why? Well, that's one thing that the researchers leads to underreporting of violent incidents by the EMTs: They chalk it up to patients in distress not being in their right minds. And that might be true, but it drives a lot of stress for the EMTs, who really shouldn't have to put up with that crap. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
