Maybe If She Told Them She Just Mispronounced 'Virginia'....
-
The story circulated on Tuesday: A substitute teacher said she'd been fired for saying the word "vagina" in class. By Wednesday, the school system was saying that the story was wrong, that she'd been fired for other offenses and saying "vagina" was not a problem. She says she was teaching art at a middle school and said "vaginas" in a discussion of Georgia O'Keefe. The school officials said that she was fired for departing from the curriculum and other policy issues. Seems to me that nobody's telling the whole truth here, that "vagina" probably did play a part but that she also maybe departed from the syllabus without permission. These stories usually have shades of grey (fifty! Ha ha ha ha... um... ha) that don't show up in the overheated news accounts. (Battle Creek Enquirer)
