Researchers have an explanation for why all those people who lose hundreds of pounds on "The Biggest Loser" tend to put the weight right back on: Apparently, when you lose a lot of weight fast, your body's metabolism slows down, and that's how your body tries to force you back to the old, heavy weight. They suggest that it may be out of your control. That would suck- nobody wants to think that they have no chance, even if it's also a ready excuse. (New York Times)
