Love It Or Leave Class. No, Wait, You Can't Leave Class, Either

Are we sick of the whole anthem/Pledge Kaepernick/Rapinoe thing yet? Yes? Too bad, here are two more for you, one Native American student getting her grades lowered for sitting during the Pledge of Allegiance in protest of America's treatment of Native Americans, despite her having done so for years (one teacher objected and docked her "for disrespect"), and a high school principal who requires students to stand during national anthem, telling students "you are to stand and you are to be quiet," even if they don't want to pay attention. Schools, I suppose, do have the right to require certain conduct, but is mandatory patriotism and required compliance really going to make a difference in these kids' lives? What's the end result of standing and murmuring the Pledge or standing for the anthem? Because we've all done it for decades and the end result is kind of the same as if we hadn't.
