Why I Won't Do Crossfit

Three University of Oregon football players ended up in the hospital after grueling workouts, and it's something that happens when you have a layoff after the season and then start up too hard and fast -- it's called rhabdomyolysis. The players ended up in the hospital. These were allegedly voluntary, self-directed workouts, so the coaches supposedly had nothing to do with it, and you can imagine some players pushing themselves too hard. But it's the culture of big-time college athletics, and it's another reason to ask ourselves why college sports have become so intense. (The Oregonian)
