So Now It's A Fixer-Upper
-
This couple in British Columbia had a mishap: A tree fell on their house. But they're insured, so they filed a claim and the insurance company sent their Preferred Contractors to repair the roof. That was August 2015. The contractors still haven't finished, and now the house is filled with decomposing rats, flies, broken windows, slabs of stucco falling off, leaks, and rat-chewed wiring, almost a million dollars' worth of damage. While they fight it out, it's a stark reminder: Insist on using your own hand-picked contractors. The insurer-picked outfits aren't "preferred" because they're good, they're "preferred" because they're cheap. (CBC)
