This is a fascinating piece on something some of us in media have been talking about for years: We all knew that at some point, smaller cable networks would have to die off, and it's happening, because cords are being cut, consumers want "skinnier" and cheaper bundles, and some of the channels cost way more than their audience size would be worth. (That includes some familiar channels, like FS2.) Check the chart in the middle of the article, which lets you select a channel and see its audience and cost-per-subscriber. Once you see channels with practically no audience (seriously, some AM daytimers with no ratings have more of an audience), you'll get why cable companies are saying no and channel owners are jettisoning their lesser networks.
