1. How did you become interested in radio?
I visited a radio station (WCAO) in 5th grade. Everyone seemed like they were having a good time, so I thought it would be a fun career.
2. Who are your mentors?
Kerby Confer got me started in radio. My radio skill set is from his expertise and knowledge. Others: Jack McCoy (theater-of-the-mind production); John Rook (programming); Bob Greenlee (prosperity); Mike Jorgenson (management); Paul Drew (consultation); Big Ron O'Brien (on-air presentation).
3. What has been your biggest career highlight?
Creating KBCO from a programming needspecific to the Denver market, and then taking it to No. 1 12+.
4. What do you like best about your job?
Camaraderie; mentoring; creating compelling, interesting radio; helping make the Portland community a better place.
5. How do see your job changing under the new Alpha Communications ownership?
Less paperwork, easier access to decision-makers within the company and budget increases!
6. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day _____.
... without my health.
7. What stations do you like to keep track of?
KINK. Of course, and the local Portland competitors.
8. Besides your own, what is your favorite radio format?
Classic Hits (done properly, I might add. That's hard to find.)
9. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Programming KINK.fm
10. Where do you see the Triple A format in five years?
Creating Adult radio for the next generation of adults, many of whom are currently listening to Active Rock, Alternative and Hot AC stations.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time away from work?
Taking our dog, Jagger, to the river to swim; hanging out with my lovely wife Cheri; working around the house; and singing in the Portland Holy Trinity Cathedral choir.
