BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:

Just followed Ben's lead, looked up one day, and we're doing 2-6 on The Fan

1. What made you decide to get into radio? Why radio?

Kind of stumbled into it. Ben was selling television advertising and started selling the Dallas Mavericks broadcast. An opportunity came up for him to be in front of the camera and he got me into the mix. Before long it led to an opportunity for us to host the Dallas Mavericks Post Game Show on KTCK which caught the attention of Gavin Spittle at the FAN and here we are. Other stuff happened in between, but I get long-winded, so I'm exhibiting a little self-editing here.

2. About what are you most passionate these days?

Basketball, my kiddos Maya and Des, vintage funk and soul and really good red sauce.

3. The Fan is the newest of three sports stations in the market. What will your show bring to the table that isn't available from your old home at the Ticket or from the ESPN station?

We love incorporating the listener into the program. We invite them to call in and take part in the discussion at all times. Those of us who are lucky enough to have sports media jobs aspired to do that in the first place because we were passionate fans growing up. Our station is an extension of that.

4. Fix the Cowboys: What would be the first things you'd do if Jerry Jones put you in charge?

You have to believe in the coach first.

5. If you hadn't gone into radio, what would you be doing today?

Probably in the production music business.

6. You're both immersed in music in general and hip-hop in particular. What are you listening to these days?

I have tendency to try and rediscover a lot of older stuff. I recently downloaded a bunch of 80s Beggars Banquet stuff I liked in high school, like The Cult record "Love." Still sounds good. I always have some classic reggae, particularly dub, in the mix and I'm sucker for 70s soul.

7. What pisses you off the most right now?

I appear to not be aging particularly well. That ain't cool.

8. Who's your favorite person in local sports right now? Your least favorite?

I love Dirk. Great dude and brilliant player. Hard to like a lot of the Cowboys right now -- I feel like a bunch of 'em quit. I'll be diplomatic and say whoever the mole was.

9. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without ____________.

...hearing Maya's voice.

10. What's the best advice you ever got? The worst?

Never hit another man in anger unless you're absolutely sure you can get away with it. That actually works for both best and worst.
