BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
Graduated College (William and Mary), Brand Marketing career for 14 years until Spring 2002.
1) From William and Mary to Redskins cheerleader to the corporate world to radio- how did that happen? How did you end up on this show?
Hmm, well, it all happened because I made it happen! Redskins Cheerleading was an evening hobby to the career. Figured it would be a cool thing to talk about when I was 85 years old.
The show? That was my husband's idea after coming back from talk radio conferences where they would acknowledge there was a problem with an overabundance of older white balding men. And no women. I tend to have talkative friends and we're the ones in bars who everyone wants to listen to.....so I decided to pull Lara into the studio and make it happen.
2) What are you passionate about?
Living beyond stereotypes and winning the War on Frumpiness.
My husband.
Raising two human beings who can happily participate in society.
High heels and Timberland boots.
Men.
Nature and being outdoors.
The Rockettes.
Friends.
And having the best damn time and the most fun on this earth that I can! :)
Oh, yeah, and along with all the other shows by women, working with Lara on changing the face of talk radio. Forever.3) You're married, Lara's single- what do you miss, if anything, about single life? What's the best thing about being married? The worst?
Miss? Absolutely nothing.
The best thing? My husband and two little rug-rats who give me the best hugs every day.
The worst? Absolutely nothing. Marriage rocks.
4) Why do you think there isn't more talk radio targeted to women?
Good question. We're 51% of the population. Will someone answer this someday, huh?
But if you think about it, if AM talk stations tell us they only program to men, FM talk stations say they only program to men, and FM music stations targeted to women say they only play music, I think it becomes sorta clear....
When the Berlin Wall between AM/FM (Talk/Music) comes down, the revenue is gonna pour in for this industry.
5) What are you reading right now? What's your favorite book?
Well, I multitask... (and I have a thing for 800 page books...)
"Collapse" by Jared Diamond
"The Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Grahame
"House of Morgan" by Ron Chernow
"Gone with The Wind" by Margaret Mitchell
Favorite Book: F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby6) What would surprise people about you?
That the best anniversary gift I ever got was a used John Deere tractor lawn mower. And I'm the one who can fix it when it's broken.
I'm a redneck wannabe.
7) What piece of wisdom would you want your kids to know as they grow older that you didn't know when you were a kid?
Hmm, I wasn't missing much on wisdom growing up (thanks mom and dad!) But for my girl: "He's Just Not That Into You" (a book every girl should be given at birth).
8) Of what are you most proud?
My happiness.
And this radio show called "ChickChat".
9) Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without ______________.
..."men." Oh, and "talking to my co-host Lara!"
10) What's the best advice you've ever gotten? The worst?
Best: From my dad, a Navy Submarine Captain: When you make a decision - don't waffle. Go with it and make it work.
Worst: From my high school guidance counselor: "You should apply to some less challenging colleges" (what a turd, huh? You can bet I didn't listen to that!).
